Being an eco guide has its commitments

Adventure Paddle Co are certified Leave No Trace practicioners abiding by the 7 guiding principles below which govern and influence both our guides and clients behaviour when operating and visiting wild places around Scotland. We are committed to eco-tourism principles and continue to ensure our relationships with local communities, local people including local land owners is positive at all times. It is a priviledge to showcase Scotland’s raw nature to others and we must tread lightly in order to preserve it’s beauty for future generations.

7 Principles of Leave No Trace ethics

Adventure Paddle Co are passionate about protecting our waterways, lochs and rivers and will pledge to help inform, educate and support those who book with us to respect our environments and minimise our environmental impact as much as possible.

Plan Ahead & prepare

Know before you go. We check all access to and from the water, know our weather and obey signage where appropriate. We keep group numbers small to minimise our impact

Consider others

We must respect the people who live and work in the areas we enjoy recreation. We always seek permission to park and obey bylaws, keep our noise to a min and support others to enjoy the waterways too

Respect Wildlife

Wildlife must be observed from a distance and this includes seals, mammals and birdlife. It's their only home and we must be mindful of our impact

Travel on durable ground

Durable ground includes established tracks, campsites, dry grasses, snow and paths. Where possible we aim to use these grounds to access waterside. On our Living Wild overnight camps we set up to keep them small and discreet

Leave What You Find

We respect farmland by leaving gates as we find them. We always try to preserve the past when exploring ruins, castles and traditional dyke walls. Building cairns and other such scars are prohibited on our activities

Dispose of waste properly

What we bring, we take home with us. Simple. Once we are back at base, we dispose of waste appropriately.

Minimise Effect of Fire

Uncontrolled fire in the wildlands can be serious hence we take all precautions if and when lighting fires on camps or on tours by cooling ashes and spreading leaving no trace. We do not condone burning of plastics or chemical pollutants outdoors
